About the Garden

Part grassland, part chaparral, part woodland, and part shady retreat, the plants in my garden have been curated to withstand the heat and sun of the San Fernando Valley. The centerpieces of the front garden are a mature palo verde and large flatleaf ceanothus, which sit alongside both warm and cool season grasses, St. Catherine’s lace, manzanitas, and clarkia. The back yard incorporates a dry riverbed/moat, flanked by sages, additional grasses, Palmer’s abutilon, California fuchsias, coastal goldenbushes, western goldenrods, and poppies. The entire yard has become a haven for hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, and the occasional hawk.
