What was once a desolate patch of weeds pocketed by dead fruit trees and a century of poor stewardship is now a vibrant place for native plants, animals, and humans to enjoy each other’s presence. Our yard is part experimentation, part apology to nature, and part anthem for the future. Sages feed the hummingbirds, while buckwheats, yarrow and mallows nourish our native bees. Toyon, coffeeberry and two small fountains provide for the birds. The yard surprises us every day with its resiliency and its fragility, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We hope it feels the same.
