About the Garden

This garden represents the local flora of the surrounding hills. My garden is mainly one of texture, with very little color at any one season. I’m very pleased with the toyon hedge as it shows Christmas color in the winter, plus provides shelter and food for many birds. The water feature is a major attraction to all sorts of animals. Coyotes, raccoons and others come during the night. Birds, bees, and frogs are there during the day. I love watching the California native meadow grasses sway in the breeze.

Notable Plants

Toyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia)
Concha Ceanothus (Ceanothus ‘Concha’)
Cleveland Sage (Salvia clevelandii)
