About the Garden

Our garden was set in motion a decade ago, when we replaced the front lawn with a design that feels like a dry river wash. We set out to create a habitat for butterflies and bees, adding more interesting and engaging native plants with this in mind. Last year we added a dry stream bed in the backyard, anchored by a western sycamore. Our garden now has over 55 varieties of native plants, including a spectacular hummingbird sage, that grow in habitats ranging from full sun to riparian. The monarchs have moved in, and our garden is teeming with life!
