38-Glenalbyn Gardens

The past ten years have been an intense labor of love as we transformed our large lot from a weed-filled slope and dead lawn into three distinct garden spaces, all focused on California natives and habitat creation. The largest of the gardens uses a switchback trail retained by recycled railroad ties to define three themed planting areas: at the bottom is feathery sagebrush and fragrant sage; next is a colorful meadow with perennial grasses and annual flowers; then, an area defined by buckwheat, manzanita, and Ceanothus. At the top is a deck, with toyon providing a backdrop and spectacular views of the surrounding hills and downtown LA.
